A02Apps \ CLICKUPS

I've called this game Clickups in honor of the original Flash version "Kickups" which was made by Liam O'Donnell of Spikything.com. For those who are unfamiliar, I guess you could refer to it as a digitized version of hacky sack. As expected, the original version is more fun to play than this one. Nevertheless, this version works fine and will keep you amused for a short period of time before you inevitably tire of it. I use term "game" loosely because Clickups was more of coding exercise in elementary physics than anything else. I literally coded this game from scratch in a day, so the quality and amusement factor is going to reflect that.

The games extreme simplicity is the reason behind me wanting to make it in the first place. Click on the ball to keep it up in the air and don't let it hit the ground. That's it. You'll gain an extra point for each successive click. It may take a minute or so to get the feel of it, but you'll improve with practice.

Like my other games, you'll require DirectX 8.0 or better and a decent 3D card which probably seems a little over the top for such a tacky little application, but necessary for smooth gameplay and the occassional effect.

With the exception of bug fixing (hopefully, that won't be neccessary, but I'm being realistic) there's not a great deal that I can do to upgrade this. At some stage I might throw in some particle effects and the like just for the fun of it and I could perhaps throw in an online high score submital option in the near future.

Update: I've noticed this thing's been downloaded a fair bit lately. It was written a while ago and, from an aesthetic standpoint, needs an overhaul. At some stage - sooner rather that later - I'll modernise the graphics and generally cheer it up.
